Samsung foldables need Google’s amazing new dual-screen translate feature!

Google has announced its first foldable phone, the Pixel Fold, at its 2023 I/O event. Software features that can advantage of the form factor are very important when it comes to foldable devices, and Google has unsurprisingly added a few such features on the Pixel Fold.

And one of those features is something we'd love to see on Samsung's foldables: the ability to use both the inner and outer screens for live translations and a split-screen interface that lets you enter text that you want to translate on one half of the screen and the translated text on the other half.

Dual screen translation is a good example of the possibilities foldables can enable

For the dual-screen translation feature, called Dual Screen Interpreter Mode, Google showed an example of how you can hold the phone up in front of someone so they can see a translated version of what you're saying on the outer screen while your own words are displayed on the inner screen. It's a neat idea, and again, it would be great if this is something we get on Samsung's foldables as well.

But whether or not that will happen remains to be seen. Google didn't say whether these features will be available in the Google Translate app for all foldable devices or if it will be exclusive to Pixel foldables. We'll let you know once we learn more, so stay tuned.
