One UI 7 release gets closer as Android 15 development reaches important milestone

Introduction

Prior to the Galaxy Tab S8 series, the “Plus” model of Samsung's flagship tablet series would always be the top-of-the-line model. However, Samsung switched things up in 2022 when it launched the Galaxy Tab S8 lineup.

The Galaxy Tab S8+ is no longer the leading model, that honor now goes to the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. However, it does strike a balance in the lineup by offering more features than the base model while also not casting a shadow on its Ultra sibling.

Design

The design is a familiar build of metal and glass on the front. Samsung has fashioned the Galaxy Tab S8+ out of Armor Aluminum which not only makes it look sleeker but also improves durability.

The buttons are all on the right side of the frame while you'll also find the AKG-tuned speakers and the USB Type-C port on the metal bits. A groove at the back is where the S Pen can be attached magnetically. It lines up perfectly with the vertically aligned rear camera setup. The Galaxy Tab S8+ measures 185.0 x 285.0 x 5.7mm.

Specifications

Samsung's flagship tablets are equipped with the latest in mobile technology and the Galaxy Tab S8+ is no different. It comes with the 5G-enabled Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The tablet can be purchased with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. MicroSD expansion up to 1TB is also possible. Both 5G and Wi-Fi variants are on offer. The Galaxy Tab S8+ is

The S Pen for the Galaxy Tab S8+ uses a prediction algorithm for ultra-low latency in order to provide a near pen on paper writing experience. Keeping the lights on is a 10,090mAh battery with support for 45W super fast charging.

Display and cameras

The front of the Galaxy Tab S8+ is dominated by its 12.4-inch 2800×1752 pixel resolution Super AMOLED display that has an up to 120Hz refresh rate. The bezels are slimmer than its predecessor which contributes to a more immersive viewing experience.

On the side bezel there's a 12-megapixel ultra-wide front camera while on the back, the Galaxy Tab S8+ features a 13-megapixel autofocus sensor with a 6-megapixel ultra-wide camera accompanied by a flash.

Software and features

Android 12 ships on the Galaxy Tab S8+ out of the box alongside One UI 4.1. There are plenty of new software features that improve productivity and connectivity on the tablet. These include, but are not limited to, Samsung DeX, Multi-Active Window, Second Screen and more.

The Galaxy Tab S8+ is supported for four major OS upgrades. Since it comes with Android 12, the device will receive major upgrades until Android 16. It also gets five years of security updates.

Availability and price

Prices for the Galaxy Tab S8+ start at $899. The tablet is available in Silver, Pink Gold and Graphite colors from February 25, 2022.
