Samsung, let me have TV Ambient Scenes based on watch faces

All the excitement growing around Samsung's Galaxy Watch lineup lately made me want to wear my Galaxy Watch 5 again. Not around the clock, as the smartwatch gets in the way of my typing on the laptop, but whenever I have the chance.

After reuniting with my Galaxy Watch 5, I remembered that I do like at least some of Samsung's watch faces — the ones I personalized to my taste and needs.

I browsed my favorite ones last night as my Samsung TV's Ambient Mode pleasantly dispersed dim light across my otherwise dark room. Suddenly, a wild thought entered my mind, and I began wanting something that would probably remain unobtainable for the rest of time. I started wishing for Galaxy Watch faces on my Samsung smart TV.

From the realm of things I want but will likely never happen

If you have a Samsung TV that supports Ambient Mode, you probably know you can set a big clock on your TV screen as an ambient scene. There are a variety of premade clock designs to choose from, and they can give your TV another dimension when you're at home busy doing other things than watching shows or movies.

While playing around with my Galaxy Watch last night, I wondered, “Wouldn't it be great if I could use my custom watch faces as ambient scenes on my Samsung TV?”

“That would be so cool,” I told myself as if I was still a boy dreaming about his next-best toy before I snapped back to reality and faced the harsh truth that something like this would likely never happen.

Needless to say, I wish there could be a way to transfer my favorite personalized watch faces from my Galaxy Watch to my smart TV with a press of a button – maybe through the Galaxy Wearable or SmartThings app on my phone or even the Ambient Mode on the TV itself.

The story continues after the video

I'll say one thing about Samsung's IoT (Internet of Things) network. Things have improved in recent years, and the interconnectivity between devices like TVs, mobile, and home appliances via SmartThings is better than ever.

Even so, the level of interactivity between a TV and the Galaxy Wearable app needed to pull off something like custom watch faces in the TV's Ambient Mode might be too much to ask, at least for now. One can hope we'll get more and better toys in the future.
