I've always been an avid tech guy, partly because growing up during the turn of the century meant I could see these outstanding technological achievements come to life right before my eyes and partly because I was fascinated by technology in general! It was an interesting time with dozens of manufacturers competing in a very tightly contested market and Samsung would always find a way to outshine everybody. That's what drew me to Samsung and my love affair with the company started with the SGH-D500, I really liked how cool it felt to slide the phone open.

I started out at SamMobile in 2014 writing about new Samsung devices, software, covering rumors, and all that good stuff. Prior to that, I had been writing with a more general approach, so this was the first time that I really focused on one company and one brand. For it to be one that I had been fascinated with ever since I started getting into tech was just the cherry on top. Since then, I've tested and reviewed a multitude of Samsung phones across all segments, in addition to wearables and tablets. It's been great to be a part of this journey with Samsung in a way, as I have been able to closely witness how it has gone from strength to strength and remained capable of competing in this tough market while others have dropped out.

This depth of experience that I have also put me in a unique position to create thought-leadership pieces for SamMobile, which I do quite often, as a way to not just better explain Samsung's approach to its loyal fans online but also to convey the finger-on-the-pulse observations that I glean from fans to let the company know what its customers think and feel.

What I'm excited to see in the future is how Samsung continues to lead the way on new technology as it has done so many times in the past. We've seen it take the lead on foldables and establish a truly enviable lead in the market that just continues to grow every year. There are other innovative ideas in the pipeline at Samsung and it would be great to see how the company brings them to market in order to ensure that its dominance remains unmatched. I fully plan on watching these future transitions as closely as I've done so far over the past decades, helping our audience make sense of it all provides me great fulfillment.

When I'm not living and breathing Samsung, you'll probably find me watching one of the many sports that I love, such as tennis and Formula 1. I'm also an avid book reader and history buff. Often, though, all I need is just a nice open road to drive on with great music and a cool breeze. It's the simple things in life and growing older has made me value that much more than I used to.

I have been writing about smartphones and technology since 2012. Two years before that, I got my first Samsung phone, a sweet little thing called the Galaxy 3 that I eventually replaced with the very first Galaxy S flagship. As a recent college graduate with too much time on his hands, I spent a couple of years modifying that Galaxy S every which way and writing guides about various hacks and customizations on online forums.

Fast forward to 2013, when I commenced my journey with SamMobile and my journey as a smartphone enthusiast who wasn’t just sitting around at home bricking his phones and guiding others on how to brick theirs and was instead writing about the smartphone industry. Over the years, I’ve used virtually every flagship Galaxy smartphone and tons of mid-range phones; I have also reviewed countless Galaxy devices and witnessed firsthand how Samsung has taken the user experience on its phones to new heights over the years and shed its kitchen sink mentality to focus on what’s important and what works for the end user.

It has also given me a knowledge of Samsung’s smartphone software not many can match, and my willingness to hold the company’s feet to the fire when the need arises has put me in a unique position that enables me to inform people about what’s great about Samsung products – phones in particular – and what isn’t. From when the company took its baby steps to a time when Samsung’s ecosystem has no equal, I’ve been there through it all, and I don't plan to quit anytime soon.

In the future, I hope to spend more time using Samsung’s smartwatches as I get older and the fitness and health-related horrors that come as part of the old age package pile up. I’m also excited to ride along with Samsung as the company innovates in the mobile space with everything from foldable smartphones to devices with rollable screens that wouldn't look out of place in a sci-fi fantasy.

In addition to phones and mobile devices, my interests include gaming on both PC and console, PC hardware, and spending countless hours on YouTube watching videos on tech, movies, games, politics, and more. I also have the guilty pleasure of watching too many reaction channels where everyone is dissing everyone, but hey, life’s got to have some drama, even if you’re only watching from the sidelines.

I have been a technology enthusiast from quite a young age. I started reading PC magazines in 2003, even before I started high school, and was amazed by all the technology embedded in devices all around us. Back then, I was interested in laptops, PCs, gaming consoles, and portable media players. In the following years, I started reading more about mobile phones and smartphones. My first personal phone was the Nokia 6270, but even before that, I used the first-ever Samsung phone in our home, the T100. It looked fantastic with its aqua-blue backlight display and had amazingly loud speakers. Since then, I grew more interested in mobile phones.

After the Samsung T100 and Nokia 6270, I upgraded to the Sony Ericsson W810 and loved its autofocus camera and Walkman music player. Then, I used my first smartphone, the Sony Ericsson M600, which had no camera but featured a large touchscreen, a half-QWERTY keyboard, and Symbian UIQ 3.0 OS that allowed third-party apps. Years later, I used Samsung’s i5800 Galaxy 3 smartphone and helped upgrade several friends to that value-for-money device. I was the first in my college to introduce several people to Android smartphones. I used a Bada OS phone, too. Since then, I have used dozens of Samsung phones, including the Galaxy S2, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

After graduating as a computer science engineer, I started working as a freelance technology writer and quickly turned that job into a full-time role. I started working for SamMobile back in 2014, a well-respected and helpful website that I used to find firmware files for the manual flashing process for my Samsung phones. I then took extra interest in Samsung and learned more about the multi-faceted and diverse brand. I closely follow the South Korean tech giant’s business aspects, partnerships, and collaborations.

I am passionate not only about smartphones and PCs but also about TVs, gaming consoles, personal audio products, smartwatches, semiconductor chips, camera sensors, and apps. I have more earphones (wired and wireless) than I can count on my fingers. Whenever a new processor or camera sensor is launched, I dig into more details about them. I have been active in technology journalism since the time there were a lot more mobile chip brands, including Intel, Nvidia, and Texas Instruments. I genuinely think Samsung is the only brand that can challenge the might of Apple and one day, I would like to see it surpass Apple with an improved ecosystem of hardware, software, and media services.

My first Samsung phone was the A800 — a flip-style feature phone born in the pre-smartphone era. When I was using the A800, little did I know how mobile technology would evolve in the next decades. And I knew just as little about my future intertwining with online tech journalism and the Samsung brand.
I was exposed to Galaxy smartphones once smartphones became a thing, but I never truly owned a Galaxy until I began my career at SamMobile in 2019. My first Galaxy phone was the Note 10, and I would have considered myself a Samsung enthusiast even in 2019. But in retrospect, I think the moment I became a true Samsung fan was when I got the Galaxy S22+ in 2022. Later, the One UI 5.1 update only helped strengthen my brand loyalty.

Over the past two years, I have used and owned Samsung products across various categories, including TVs, smartphones, tablets, wireless earbuds, and smartwatches. And I'm a fan of using Galaxy phones without protective cases — a dangerous practice that has yet to backfire — and putting Samsung's durability claims to the test in my day-to-day life.

I'm no stranger to trying out new experiences, challenging myself to learn new UIs and ways of thinking, or trying to understand different design, engineering, or management-related visions. I have adventured into Samsung DeX and used the desktop environment exclusively for roughly one and a half years, replacing my Windows PC in the process. And without a doubt, the path to understanding Samsung has been the most rewarding yet.

The more I use Samsung products and lean into the company's product ecosystem, the more I seem to be in tune with and understand Samsung's vision, the experience-driven direction in which it's headed, and why Samsung has become the face of Android OS and Wear OS.

For the foreseeable future, I'm looking forward to seeing how One UI will continue to evolve, how foldable phones will change the mobile scene, how devices and experiences will become more interconnected, and what Samsung will contribute to the emerging Mixed Reality segment.

The social man

Daniel Scuteri

My Samsung journey started back in 2011 when I first switched to a smartphone and grabbed the Galaxy Wave. I was hooked on the bright displays and capable cameras, but I was more drawn to Samsung doing things differently to what was currently available.

Everyone was talking about iPhones, and I wanted nothing to do with it.

From this moment on, I developed a healthy obsession with all things Samsung Mobile. This all came to a head when I joined Samsung Australia in 2015, and spent 8 years learning the products inside out, but more importantly learning the business of the brand.

Working inside Samsung gives you a unique perspective. One that allows you to understand decisions better than what the average consumer would comprehend. Things like, why the Galaxy S6 was a beautiful mistake, how the Galaxy Note7 recall was handled expertly in my country, but not so good in others, and the exact mAh that was gained in the battery from removing the headphone jack and microSD card slot.

I have trained retail staff all over the world, Manila, India, Australia and more, as well as getting the opportunity to lead the learning and development for many product launches.

I have a passion for bringing to light features that no one knows about, as well as creatively explaining products that no one seems to want to understand properly.

I’ve met DJ Koh, interacted with some of Samsung’s biggest directors, but for me, getting to explain how their phones work is the most exciting part of it all.

Away from Samsung, I have lots of personal interests. I’m married and have a beautiful family and love travelling the world with them.
I enjoy Football (the real kind) and I am a Newcastle United and Lionel Messi tragic.

Overall I am looking to bring my unique understanding of Samsung and passion for the innovation we use everyday to the fans of Samsung everywhere.

Meet our technology writers

As part of our diversified coverage, we keep a close eye on trends and what other major players in the tech industry do that influences our present and shapes our future. Here's our dedicated team of technology writers that sort through the fluff to bring you meaningful stories that inform and educate.

Abid Iqbal Shaik

I’m a computer science engineer living in Hyderabad, India, who has a keen interest in automobiles and consumer electronics. My journalism career kicked off in 2017 with MySmartPrice where I wrote news, features, buying guides, and explanatory articles about technology among other things, and reviewed many products, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, PC components, smartwatches, audio devices, wearables, and smart home products. Since then, I have worked for 91Mobiles, Apple, and Onsitego, before finally landing on SamMobile.

The first mobile phone I experienced was the Panasonic GD90 in 2000, which my father had bought. Since then, I have been drawn towards mobiles and gadgets, which made me stay up-to-date about these products through magazines, TV shows, and the internet. I lived in a place where there was no internet, and magazines about consumer electronics were hard to find. However, my love for gadgets made me overcome all those difficulties. I used to spend hours at internet cafes exploring new products, and whenever I visited a bigger town, I didn’t leave any chance to grab as many technology-focused magazines as I could.

I was always eager to try out the latest mobiles at a local store, and if I absolutely loved any, I begged my father to buy one for himself (since I was still a kid and wasn’t allowed to have a phone of my own). During this period, I got to use many mobiles that my father bought, including the Nokia 3220, Nokia 6270, Sony Ericsson M600i, and Sony Ericsson W810i.

The first smartphone that I bought was the Samsung Galaxy S II, the costliest and the most advanced Android phone in the market. It was a huge step up from the feature phones that I used in the past and my brother’s HTC Legend, featuring an absolutely amazing screen, a mind-blowing camera, and super-fast performance. Unfortunately, whenever Samsung released a software update to the phone, it used to take a long time to reach India, and that’s when I discovered SamMobile. I used to download the latest firmware Samsung had released for the Galaxy S II in other regions from this website and install it on my phone using Odin. I never imagined that I could one day get to work for SamMobile.

After spending a considerable amount of time with my Galaxy S II, I wanted to make the phone even faster by using custom ROMs, and what an amazing time it was. There were a ton of custom firmware to choose from. The ones that had a stock Android look and no bloatware from Samsung were my favourites. That’s also when I started being active on forums, asking questions and answering queries. Surprisingly, my posts on forums got me my first job, which I mentioned earlier, and that’s how I was introduced to the technology journalism career. That is the reason why I am in this field even though I am a computer science engineer. I am glad all of that happened because I am a technology fanatic and I am grateful that my work revolves around it.

I believe that Samsung is the best company for Android smartphones, especially when it comes to high-end devices. That’s because the company’s phones not only feature one of the most impressive hardware but also the most sophisticated, clean, and beautiful-looking user interface that makes great use of space and offers the most advanced features. Samsung also offers Wear OS smartwatches, earbuds, TVs, and a ton of other types of products, creating an ecosystem of devices that work very well with each other. That’s one of the reasons why I work at SamMobile. I get to write about a company that I admire.

I look forward to bringing you the latest and greatest news related to Samsung and consumer electronics and helping you in every way possible when it comes to gadgets.

Meet our support and developer

It takes a village to support a platform as significant as ours, as much as we all chip in, a lot of the heavily lifting is done by the core support roles that ensure all the nuts and bots are tight and the gears spin as they should so that SamMobile runs like a well-oiled machine.

I'm a Samsung repair and firmware expert. Tinkering with Samsung devices has been a long love affair for me. I started with a Samsung SGH-X480 in 2005 and bought my first Samsung flagship device, the Galaxy S (GT-I9000), in 2010. Since then I've repaired almost every Samsung smartphone there is!

As a passionate lover of technology, I have always been fascinated by the evolution of Samsung devices. From my first Samsung phone, the SGH-X480, to the latest Samsung devices, I have witnessed the remarkable transformation of Samsung devices from basic phones to smartphones. Over the years, I have gained extensive knowledge and experience in repairing and upgrading Samsung devices, which has made me an expert in this field.

Becoming a Samsung repair and firmware expert was a natural progression for me. As I continued to use Samsung devices, I encountered various issues that required repairs or firmware upgrades. I began to research and experiment with different repair techniques (soldering on mainboards and replacing parts) and firmware installations, which allowed me to gain extensive knowledge and experience in this field. Over time, I became an expert in repairing various Samsung devices, including smartphones, tablets. I also gained expertise in firmware installations and upgrades. Although this profession has its challenges, such as keeping up with the latest technology and dealing with complex repairs and firmware installations.

The future of Samsung devices and the repair industry is exciting and challenging. Samsung continues to innovate and push the boundaries of technology, with the latest devices featuring 5G connectivity and foldable screens. As technology advances, the repair industry must keep up with the latest developments to provide effective solutions to its clients. However, the need for continuous learning and innovation in the repair industry remains crucial. As a Samsung repair and firmware expert, I am committed to keeping up with the latest developments.

I'm Johan Nenzén, a developer who's been into Samsung stuff since 2011. I got into SamMobile when Danny hit me up on Twitter about firmware updates. Since then, I've helped build the site, set up tech stuff, and made an app just for Android.

Besides that, I've cooked up software to track firmware updates, making sure everyone stays in the loop.

My Samsung journey started with a Samsung Galaxy S, and I've been hooked ever since. Apart from Samsung, I'm all about exploring different kinds of tech. I'm big on craft beer, especially IPAs, and I geek out on home automation. When I'm not deep into tech, I kick back with TV series or hang out with my awesome family of five in Sweden.

During the day, I tackle a regular job in my hometown, but my passion for Samsung gear and tech keeps me busy. Let's dive into Samsung's world and tech together!

Meet our CEO and CTO

The buck stops here. These gentlemen are responsible for overseeing the entire operation, setting goals, focusing on long-term strategies, managing relationships with the brand and other partners, and making sure that the team is well looked after. It's not an easy job, but they sure make it look like it is!

Danny Dorresteijn

My love affair with Samsung started back in 2006 and I hold the SGH-D900 responsible for that. It was one of the slimmest and most sleek slider phones on the market at that time, I was hooked to Samsung back when I was 16 years old and have never looked back since.

As I began to look at Samsung closely, my interest in the company only grew, particularly because of its innovation in OLED displays. I've been a proud user of Samsung phones since the SGH-D900 and have owned the whole gamut from Samsung Bada to phones powered by Windows Phone, Symbian, Tizen, and of course, Android.

So, you might be wondering, why did I launch SamMobile? Well, what you know as SamMobile today actually started out as Samsung-firmwares.com. I started that website so that users could download software updates for Samsung phones from any market they liked and flash (install) them on their devices. However, it wasn't long before Samsung shut me down due to trademark infringement (and possibly because they didn't appreciate me offering users an unofficial way to update phones).

We could no longer use that domain so we pivoted and launched Samfirmware.com. Now we were doing things by the book and promoting Samsung‘s official way to update phones through Smart Switch. Samsung didn't seem to have a problem with it so we kept the domain and continued to build out the service, providing valuable support to every Samsung user who was looking for a workaround for software updates.

Back then, users in smaller markets had to wait for much longer to get the same update that would be released quickly in major markets like the US. So through our website, users could get the US software update and install it on their phones. Fortunately, Samsung has seriously improved its software update game since then and now you don't really have to wait too much to get the latest updates no matter where you're located.

I ultimately decided to expand the website and cover Samsung-related news. However, since the domain was firmware-focused, the decision was made to change the name to SamMobile. The new name was better suited to the new direction we were taking and it enabled us to write about Samsung and everything under the sun related to it.

It's been an absolute pleasure to witness how SamMobile has grown over the past decade. We're now the largest online Samsung community, a household name for millions of readers across the globe, and recognized for our influence by Samsung Mobile. We're routinely invited to attend Samsung Unpacked and other events, have cordial conversations with key players at Samsung, and you'll also find us at major trade shows wherever Samsung has a presence.

As we look towards the future, our goal is to provide the best news coverage for our readers and to share exceptional thought leadership content to give voice to our readers' opinions about Samsung‘s products and services. As CEO of SamMobile, I offer my sincere gratitude to you for extending your patronage to SamMobile.com. We couldn't have done it without your support. You can reach out to me directly on X where, apart from sharing my opinions on everything Samsung, I also share my passion for Formula 1.

Being a tech wizard from age 12, consumer technology always intrigued me. My first Samsung (smart)phone was the Galaxy S II, which I obtained by trading in my iPhone 4 for it, which would be around 2011.

I am the proud co-founder of SamMobile and I joined the team in September 2011 while I was still studying for my Bachelor of Computer Science at the Rotterdam University of Applied Science.

Danny reached out to me via Twitter when I responded to a one-off job offering to install the forum and obtain a dedicated server. At that point in time, the site was still powered by Webs, which cost the company a small fortune each month in bandwidth, so moving to a dedicated server and changing the tech stack made a lot of sense.

The firmware was still hosted on Hotfile and other third-party file-sharing providers by then. We settled for WordPress and the vBulletin forum and started expanding things from there, growing and tackling challenges together, and I am still involved up to this day. I oversee every technical decision made within the company and am (hands-on) involved in most of the development and operational challenges. Other responsibilities include performance, scaling, and cost optimization, as well as future developments and new functionality. Managing projects, budgets, people and timelines and keeping everything operational.

I enjoy troubleshooting performance issues at scale and solving complex tech problems. Most of my spare time is spent enjoying nature with my wife and dog, friends, and family.
