One of Samsung's upcoming budget Galaxy A smartphones will have the same battery capacity as most of the company's budget phones in the last couple of years. The Galaxy A16 5G will boast a 5,000 mAh battery, as confirmed by a certification the phone picked up in China.
The Galaxy A16 5G has a rated battery capacity of 4,860 mAh, but Samsung will market the phone with a higher typical capacity of 5,000 mAh. That's a common practice by smartphone manufacturers today, and the Korean giant is no different.
The Galaxy A16 5G's charging speeds are not yet confirmed. But there's no doubt that it will support 25W fast charging. That's what the Galaxy A15 5G supports as well.
The Galaxy A16 5G may launch sometime later this year. It's expected to use a MediaTek Dimensity 6300+ chip in some markets and the Exynos 1330 in others. It will likely be offered in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM configurations with 128GB storage on all three.
The Galaxy A16 5G's camera setup is expected to include 50MP primary, 5MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro sensors on the back and a 13MP at the front. The phone will support 5G connectivity, though an LTE variant is also in development. Other connectivity features could include Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
As for the software, the Galaxy A16 5G will come with Android 14 and One UI 6.1 out of the box, even though its retail launch will likely take place after Samsung has released Android 15 and One UI 7.0 for some smartphones. Like the A15 5G, it should be eligible for four major Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
