The Galaxy Ring is Samsung's first smart ring and it appears that a lot of people want it, even more than what Samsung had initially anticipated. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Ring have been open for a couple of weeks now and the device hits shelves today.

Samsung previously had a more conservative sales estimate for the Galaxy Ring so the initial production run was limited, but a new report out of South Korea claims that the company has now significantly ramped up the product numbers.

Galaxy Ring is selling quite well in China

Local media is reporting that Samsung has initially planned to manufacture 400,000 units of the Galaxy Ring. It opted for a wait and watch approach as the production would be increased if the market reception was favorable or kept at the same level if there wasn't a lot of interest in the product.

It appears that the initial demand has exceeded Samsung's expectations. Sources mentioned in the report claim that Samsung has now added 600,000 units to the initial production run, meaning that it's making a million units of the Galaxy Ring to meet the higher demand at launch.

Not only has the Ring been well received in other markets, it's said to be viewed very positively in China. Robust demand from that market could help Samsung sell a lot more units. It's pertinent to appreciate the scale of this achievement, because if Samsung sells through the entire million units of the Galaxy Ring, this would be close to the number of Oura rings sold ever since the first one was launched back in 2017. No wonder the Galaxy Ring has got Oura worried!
