Bespoke Jet Bot vacuum with and without AI, what’s the difference?

This year, Samsung has integrated smarter AI into more devices, including several Bespoke home appliances. The new Jet Bot Combo robot vacuum cleaner might be our favorite Bespoke device with SmartThings integration. But it is complex and chock-full of features, so much so that it might intimidate newcomers — especially since the 2024 Bespoke Jet Bot is available in two variants: with and without AI.

What exactly is the difference between the two AI and non-AI models? What precisely makes the AI-enabled Jet Bot Combo cost $300 extra (at launch)? If you've ever wondered, here's all you need to know.

The smartest Samsung vacuum, with or without AI

Whether you pick the Jet Bot Combo or the Jet Bot Combo AI, you get a super clever roaming vacuum cleaner with all sorts of bells and whistles.

For instance, both models feature powerful vacuuming, spinning mop pads (170 rotations per minute), floor detection capabilities to adjust for different surfaces, LiDAR sensors for precise 3D mapping and object avoidance, and integration with the SmartThings app (and the new 3D Map View) on your Galaxy mobile device.

Furthermore, whichever Jet Bot Combo you buy, you get the versatile Clean Station with Auto Wash, Auto Steam, and Auto Dry. This ‘home station,' so to speak, can clean the mop pads on its own, refill the Jet Bot vacuum with water, and empty the vacuum's dustbin when needed for a hassle-free experience.

So, both versions are smart, powerful, versatile, and use LiDAR to map the environment and detect objects. Where does AI come in? Why or when would you even need it?

Jet Bot Combo AI is the same but impressively smarter

In short, the artificial intelligence systems integrated into the Jet Bot Combo AI serve to improve three existing features: Object Recognition, Floor Detection, and the No-Go Zones functionality.

Sure, both vacuums can create 3D maps and scan objects. However, the Jet Bot Combo AI has a better camera system and was trained to detect a variety of specific object types. The AI uses that information to help the vacuum cleaner avoid obstacles more efficiently and detect room types automatically.

Furthermore, both Jet Bot Combo variants can adjust suction power based on floor types and detect wet floors for mop functionality. However, the improved AI Floor Detect+ system goes one or two steps forward by detecting stain types and even re-mopping stained areas later for a deeper clean. It has a sort of added contextual awareness when it comes to stain types and which ones might need extra attention.

Lastly, even though both models let you set No-Go Zones manually via the SmartThings app, only the Jet Bot Combo AI is clever enough to automatically suggest No-Go Zones based on 3D scans and the objects it recognized in its areas of operation.

Two more things made possible by AI — pet owners will love this

The cherry on top is that the Jet Bot Combo AI has a couple more exclusive features unrelated to vacuuming and mopping. They are made possible by the more powerful front-facing cameras we mentioned before.

Here is a side-by-side comparison between the non-AI and the AI cameras — note that both models have LiDAR sensors sticking out at the top, but the front-facing cameras differ.

One of these exclusive features is SmartThings Pet Service, which uses the vacuum's cameras and AI to recognize and monitor your pets. For example, the Jet Bot Combo AI can send you SmartThings notifications on your phone when your dog is barking. You can even tell your vacuum cleaner to play music for your pets when they're agitated.

The second feature is Live+ Remote Monitoring. It lets you monitor your home through a live video feed via the SmartThings app on your phone. And speaking of Pet Service, you can also monitor your pets through the vacuum cleaner's cameras anytime.

So, there you have it. The Jet Bot Combo is probably the smartest Bespoke home appliance you can buy, but one is even more clever. Now you know all there is to know about what makes the AI and non-AI versions different.
